Of Rebels and Saviors: The Libyan Experience

Since the onset of the war in Libya, thousands of innocent lives have been sacrificed. Children get killed by bombs instead of allowing them to play freely on the open fields; the elderly people could no longer spend their last days on Earth peacefully. The attacks have not yet culminated, as a matter of fact, it seems like these are becoming more frequent and more intense than before. Grave war crimes have been committed and the formations and organizations that are responsible for extensive war crimes now appear as if they are going to redeem Libya from the evil forces that usurped it from their control.

Al Qaeda, which has long been posing as “pro-democracy” led the Libyan rebels under the NATO Special Forces’ supervision. In addition to this, the process of attaining the much-wanted “liberation” was carried out by former members of the Libya Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG). With this set-up, it is confusing to know that the jihadists and NATO are collaborating to restore freedom and peace in the war-torn nation. It is also dubious and extremely weird for the “ex-“Al Qaeda affiliates to unite with a pro-democracy rebellion against Gadhafi and allies.

According to Professor Michel Chossudovsky, the special forces which were deployed by NATO blend into the Libyan rebellion landscape because their identity is unidentified. Special Forces are said to be composed of British Special SAS Forces, French legionnaires, and US Navy SEALS who disguise using civilian rebel clothes and gears and they are believed to be the master mind behind the operations and attacks against important government buildings like Gadhafi’s Bab al-Aziziya compound. There are also reports that confirm British SAS’ presence on the Eastern Libyan grounds prior the air campaign. This verifies the allegation of collaboration between NATO and the terrorists.

As machine guns and pickups trucks continue to shape the rebellion landscape in Libya, more and more lives will be sacrificed with all these senseless violence. The CIA, NATO special forces and Islamic brigades which are controlled by former jihadists now propagate their stance as defenders of liberty but they also are in charge of combat on the ground, air campaign and even Apache helicopter raids that sow fear, exhaustion and despair among the people in Libya. Gadhafi and his cohorts are not the only people responsible for the distress in the country, more importantly, the intervention of outside forces advancing their political interests to the extent of creating chaos and generating death on humanity.

The Western media, as having been funded and controlled by powerful nations which are NATO members, may have distorted facts about the turmoil happening in the specific part of the globe. This is a great part of the strategy to maintain images and propagate ideas to draw sentiments and support from the global community. Some alternative media presents the other side of the story, but it is up to the audience to discern which one is factual and which one is feigned.
